Driven by experience, fueled by passion—here’s why I’m running!
Why are you running for the School Board?
I am running for the School Board because I believe in the power of education to change people's lives, and I want to be a part of a team that ensures that all children, regardless of background, have equal opportunities to achieve. I have witnessed firsthand the difficulties that children and teachers encounter, and I am sincerely committed to providing a supportive, equitable, and high-quality educational environment for all students in our district.
Is there a particular issue that motivates you to serve on the board of education?
As a parent, a former teacher, and a community educator now, I can speak to the significance of our schools meeting each student's unique needs. Regardless of their circumstances or aptitude, I want to make sure that every child has access to a top-notch education that enables them to realize their greatest potential.
Creating an atmosphere where each child feels respected, safe, and supported is something I'm very passionate about. I want to be a voice for the families and teachers who are asking for changes that will improve the quality of education, expand opportunities for students, and ensure that we’re preparing them for the future.
I believe that education is a collective effort, and by working together, we can create solutions that are advantageous to all. In order to establish a school climate that promotes success for everyone, I'm determined to hear what the students, parents, teachers, and administrators have to say to continue to create school environments that are successful and accepting for all.
In addition to academic achievement, I hope to contribute to the development of a future in which our school district fosters resilient, well-rounded children who are ready to succeed in a changing global environment.
Are there aspects of your education and experience that you feel would be especially helpful in this position?
Ultimately, I am dedicated to bringing to the school board a thoughtful, strategic, and caring approach. I am excited to work with fellow board members to further enhance our school system so that every student and their family can benefit from the education and resources that our district offers.
Describe your experience in working with parents, community members, the business community and human service agencies.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, community members, the business community, and human service agencies, all of which have provided me with valuable insights and experience that I would bring to the school board.
As a former special education teacher, I've worked closely with students and parents to promote academic and social-emotional requirements that fostered success in and out of the classroom. To make sure that families feel heard and active in their children's education, I recognize the value of open communication and developing solid, trustworthy connections with them. The idea that educational success is a partnership between parents, teachers, and the community has been influenced by my classroom experiences, and I'm committed to fostering that collaboration.
As a current community educator, I work with a multitude of individuals and groups to offer workshops, events, and educational materials that promote lifelong learning and foster community bonds. I've been able to interact with a wide range of individuals from various backgrounds in my role, pay attention to their requirements, and assist in developing easily accessible educational options. I can personally attest to the transformative power of education and the significance of adjusting our pedagogical strategies to accommodate the various demands of our community.
In addition, my experience serving on non-profit boards has given me the skills to work across various sectors, including the business and social service communities. I have worked to direct organizational goals, raising funds, fiduciary responsibility, and establish meaningful relationships with community stakeholders. I have a deep passion for building community collaborations and partnerships
I contribute a distinct viewpoint by combining my experiences on various boards, my teaching background, and my current position in community education as well as a parent of a current Sherrard School District student. I understand how critical it is to collaborate across all sectors to enhance every student's educational experience. In order to guarantee that our school system is not just academically successful but also a nurturing, inclusive environment for every child, I am dedicated to interacting with parents, local businesses and organizations, and human service groups.
